Chinese New Year Decorations & Party Supplies

Chinese New Year marks the start of the new beginning on the second new moon. Decorate for this traditional oriental holiday with a blast of red for a sign of good luck and celebrate this most important date on the Chinese calendar. Good luck during Chinese New Year is believed to determine your fortune for the rest of the year. So this year, kick off the Chinese New Year with a party!

Why do we see dragons used in Chinese celebrations? Simply put, the dragon is a symbol of power in China. It is not necessarily an evil creature like we tend to portray them. The Chinese interpretation of a dragon is a powerful, mystical creature that can scare off evil or bad spirits. Because of this, Chinese New Years celebrations usually have dragon and lion dances that make a lot of noise with music and fireworks to start the year off right by scaring away the evil spirits.

Start your party by inviting your guests with the Asian Invitations and Seals. Youll receive eight invitations per package which include envelopes, and seals.

Next youll want to decorate.

Hang the Asian Streamer, Chinese Lion Whirls or Dragon Whirls from the ceiling. You can then use our Chinese Cultural cutouts or Asian cutouts on any wall or door. Take a look at the Asian Insta-View. This instantly provides the scene of your party by giving the appearance that you are looking out a window at the Great Wall of China. It is made of a thin plastic material and you can hang it on your wall with double sided tape or thumbtacks.

Add some red to your ceilings with the Chinese Paper Lanterns. You can hang these Chinese Lanterns for the decorative bright red, gold, and yellow colors. We also have paper Decorated Chinese lanterns. These are an accordion style lantern made with string tassels and an Asian flower design.

One tradition of the Chinese New Year is the red envelope. The red color of the envelope symbolizes good luck and is supposed to ward off evil spirits. Use the Red Pocket Money Envelopes as a way to give the gift of money. Youll want to place an amount of money in the envelope that ends with an even digit as these are believed to be lucky numbers.

Browse through a selection of Chinese New Year party favors to wish your friends and family good fortune and success. You can also hand out Good Luck Coins or make some noise with a traditional Chinese hand drum.

Our decorative Chinese New Year Tableware can be used for a Chinese themed dinner party or for a Chinese New Year celebration. It's not only functional but is also a great way to add some Asian-inspired decorations to your party table. We have a great selection of Chinese napkins, Chinese plates, and Chinese table covers.
