What is Thanksgiving
The story about Thanksgiving in America dates back to 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts during the settling of the United States. After suffering brutal winter conditions the first several years after the first settlers landed on Plymouth Rock in 1620. The first Thanksgiving Day was shared with the Native American Indians as may of the Thanksgiving Stories go. The pilgrims were still on the verge of not being able to make it through the winter for lack of food, but with the help of the Indians own food, and knowledge of farming, hunting, and fishing the settlers finally had some time to reflect and be give thanks to what they had been through. We still celebrate Thanksgiving with what were some of the original foods shared on that first Thanksgiving, turkey, corn, and pumpkin.

The most common pictures of Thanksgiving are images of people gathered around a large table with their family getting ready to cut into the Thanksgiving turkey. The turkey is by far the most recognizable Thanksgiving decoration along with orange pumpkins and fall leaves.
